OUR PEOPLE
Dee Lawrence
Director
Dee’s dedication to improving outcomes for people living with a disability stems from personal experience. Dee’s daughter lives with Autism and Dee has experienced firsthand the impact of gaps in services, attitudes and community. And she is on a mission to change that.
Dee completed her Bachelor Degree, Majoring in Indonesian Language and Business, in 2012, followed by a Cert IV in Case Management and Government in 2015, and has since gained considerable experience in case management, coordination, and general management across government, not for profit, and private entities with considerable exposure to NDIS. Dee’s experience overseas in Indonesia has given her a global perspective on social issues, further complemented by her work with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse clients here in Australia. She relishes the opportunity to act local and Dee engineers innovative, collaborative and practical solutions to challenges faced by individuals with a disability in Townsville and North Queensland. Dee’s work and the work of her team positively impact the lives of individuals and their mums, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons. As well as the wider care community.
Over the last 5 years Dee has built the TEIA team to include over 30 passionate, caring, unique, empowered, and well-trained individuals. Dee remains an accessible and hands-on member of the TEIA team and is involved in all aspects of our service delivery. Dee’s specialty is case management and coordination. She can gain an accurate understanding of a client’s circumstances quickly and offer practical and achievable solutions. Especially when a client experiences challenges in navigating systems and processes or accessing funding.
Dee’s vision for TEIA is to grow under her leadership and guidance and positively impact more people. She understands the more people she can reach, the more barriers to participation she can dismantle. Every day Dee strives for positive change so that everyone in our communities can live a good life.
